Nick Graziano has a serious hose.
The biggest deficiency in coach Chris Ault’s pistol offense the last few years was the lack of big plays in the passing game.
Well, after watching Graziano vertically assault Nicholls State in a near criminal manner on Saturday, it’s clear that Ault hasn’t put the “Air Wolf” days entirely to rest.
It appears as if the big play drought had a lot more to do with personnel than system shortcomings.
Graziano has already produced five scoring plays of more than 20 yards this season. On Saturday, he dropped in two perfect deep balls to Arthur King (52 yards) and Marko Mitchell (49) for touchdowns.
Hit both guys in stride – impressive.
Combine that with the already bruising nature of the pistol’s run game – backup Vai Taua’s running style lends itself to hurting people, by the way – and Nevada could contend for the WAC championship this season.
All Graziano needs to do is stay calm (he appeared to be forcing things during the first quarter against the Colonels) and the offense will be dangerous.
