The University of Nevada,-;(Las Vegas)

I am a hypocrite.

I am an outspoken opponent of the “F-bomb the Rebels” chant – because it lacks the creativity and originality worthy of Nevada’s finest institution (that means “place of learning” for the monosyllabic Rebels fans out there) – but I have nothing better to offer as a replacement.

So I’m in search of a new and better way to make fun of the University of Nevada, Las Vegas at football games.

The academic standards at the University of Nevada–Las Vegas aren’t exactly stellar, but what place do academics have at a football game?

The University of Nevada at Las Vegas is located in one of America’s seediest towns, a place the rest of America uses to soil before returning to civilization.

But we’ve all enjoyed a night on the strip, or in the club, or at the strip clubs, so that seems hardly a reason to berate those rascals from the South.

Then there are the helmets the University of Nevada?Las Vegas used in the early years of the program. In case you don’t remember, they used the Confederate’s stars and bars. Congratulations on being open-minded.

For a second I thought about putting “University of Nevada; Las Vegas sucks” in all my stories – like the paper down South did to us a few years ago – but that’s just as unoriginal as the f-bomb chant, except without the balls.

Then there’s how the University of Nevada (Las Vegas) can’t have sorority houses because Clark County considers that many women living in one house a brothel, but I’m not sure how to verbalize that in a concise chant.

I guess brighter minds will have to find a more clever way to talk about Nevada’s red-headed step child of higher learning – Southern Nevada Commuter College.
